Emma Barnsley Foundation Grant
This grant provides funding to nonprofit organizations in Texas and New York that focus on animal welfare, environmental protection, and veterinary education, particularly in areas like Crane, Midland, Odessa, and Manhattan.
Description
The Emma Barnsley Foundation, managed by Wells Fargo Bank, N.A., supports charitable, scientific, and educational efforts focused on the welfare of animals and the environment. Established in honor of Emma Elizabeth Barnsley, who was deeply passionate about animals, the foundation works to promote the prevention of cruelty to animals and the protection and study of both domestic and wild animal life and their habitats.
The foundation's objectives include preventing cruelty to animals, supporting their care and preservation, and promoting ecological and environmental research, provided that such research does not involve harm to animals. It also supports veterinary medicine studies in Texas through scholarships and institutional support. Grants for educational purposes are geographically restricted to Texas, while general environmental and animal welfare projects may be supported in both Texas and New York.
Applications for funding are accepted on a rolling basis, but to be considered at the annual review meeting in June, they must be submitted by May 1. The foundation places a priority on organizations based in or serving the areas of Crane, Midland, and Odessa in Texas, as well as Manhattan in New York. Applicants must be tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The foundation does not fund individuals, general operating support, endowments, political activities, loans, or fundraising events.
Grant awards are generally communicated by July. Successful applicants are required to submit a progress report within six months of receiving funds. Application confirmation is sent via automated email upon submission.
