Energy Efficiency Equity Grant Program 2025
This program provides funding to nonprofit organizations and local governments in Maryland to implement energy efficiency projects that benefit low to moderate-income residents.
Description
The Maryland Energy Administration (MEA) has announced the Energy Efficiency Equity Grant Program (EEE Program) for Fiscal Year 2025. This program is designed to support energy efficiency projects that benefit Maryland residents with low to moderate incomes. Eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations and local government entities, who are encouraged to develop initiatives that reduce energy consumption and deliver measurable benefits to qualifying households.
The program has a total anticipated budget of $11.2 million, which will be allocated regionally based on U.S. Census data regarding households experiencing low and moderate incomes. This competitive grant program is an excellent opportunity for organizations to implement impactful projects that promote energy savings and enhance living conditions for Maryland residents.
Applications for the program are due by Thursday, January 16, 2025, at 3:00 PM EST. Applicants must complete the FY25 EEE Program Application and provide additional required documents, including savings estimates and a conflict of interest disclosure form (if applicable). Templates are available for various project scopes, such as new construction, limited upgrades to residential-commercial buildings, and whole-building or house retrofits. Applicants should carefully review the Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) for details about regional allocations and program requirements.
To assist with funding, applicants are encouraged to explore utility incentives offered by Maryland's EmPOWER utilities, including Baltimore Gas and Electric, Delmarva, Potomac-Edison, PEPCO, SMECO, and Washington Gas. These resources can help maximize the impact of proposed projects and align them with the program's goals.
Previous cycles of the EEE Program, formerly known as the Low-to-Moderate Income Energy Efficiency Grant Program, have successfully funded initiatives like the Green and Healthy Homes Initiative in Baltimore and projects by Building Change, Inc., in Prince George’s County. Case studies and details from past projects provide valuable insights for prospective applicants.
