The Alpena County Older Persons Committee provides funding opportunities to organizations that support seniors aged 60 and above living within Alpena County, Michigan. This application must be submitted to the Alpena County Board of Commissioners office, located at 720 West Chisholm, Suite 7, Alpena, MI 49707. The funding application is designed to support organizations that directly benefit older adults within the county.
To be eligible for funding, an organization must meet specific criteria. It must be recognized as a non-profit charitable organization under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Other entities such as schools and government agencies may also be eligible. Religious organizations may apply, but only if they serve the general public and do not have sectarian religious content. Applicants must provide proof of their 501(c)(3) non-profit status, and funding is not available to individuals. Furthermore, organizations must adhere to the accountability standards set by the County of Alpena for nonprofit entities.
The application must be submitted in hardcopy format only, typed or printed legibly in black ink. A total of ten (10) copies of the application are required, each one-sided and 3-hole punched. The application must include proof of the organization’s non-profit status. The deadline for submission is set for 4 p.m. on Monday, May 1, 2025. No alterations to the application will be accepted.
Once the application is submitted, organizations will be required to present their proposal to the Alpena County Older Persons Committee. Applicants will be contacted separately with the meeting date and time. Specific instructions on the presentation and further details of the process will be provided by the Committee.
