Beaufort-Hyde Community Foundation

This grant provides funding to nonprofit organizations that serve the communities of Beaufort and Hyde counties in North Carolina, supporting various local initiatives that address community needs.

Description

The Beaufort-Hyde Community Foundation (BHCF), an affiliate of the North Carolina Community Foundation, offers annual competitive grants to charitable organizations serving Beaufort and Hyde counties in North Carolina. Established in 2001, BHCF is guided by a local volunteer advisory board that supports the development of permanent endowments, local philanthropy, and grantmaking that enhances community life.

BHCF’s community grantmaking fund supports a variety of local nonprofit initiatives that respond to changing community needs. Grants awarded typically range from $500 to $1,000, depending on the availability of funds and the scope of the proposed projects. In 2024, BHCF awarded a total of $3,919 in grants through this program. Funding decisions are guided in part by a local community needs assessment, which is available for public review and helps inform the priorities of the foundation’s board.

The 2025 grant application cycle will open on March 7, 2025, and close at 12:00 p.m. (noon) Eastern Time on April 8, 2025. Late submissions, including those delayed by technical issues, will not be accepted. Applicants must apply through the North Carolina Community Foundation’s online application portal. First-time applicants must create a profile using the instructions in Training Module I, and returning applicants should log in with existing credentials. Training Module II provides step-by-step instructions for submitting a grant application.

To be eligible, applicants must be qualified charitable organizations that provide services in Beaufort and/or Hyde counties. All submissions must follow the posted guidelines; applications that do not comply with requirements will be deemed ineligible for funding. Awards are typically announced approximately two months after the application deadline.

For additional support or to address specific questions, applicants are encouraged to contact the foundation’s program officer. The main office of the North Carolina Community Foundation is located in Raleigh, North Carolina, and serves as a point of contact for all affiliate foundations.
