Brooklyn Arts Council

This funding opportunity provides financial support to Brooklyn-based artists and nonprofit organizations for community-focused arts projects that engage and enrich local audiences in 2025.

Description

The Brooklyn Arts Fund (BAF) and Local Arts Support (LAS) grants, managed by the Brooklyn Arts Council (BAC), provide funding opportunities for artists and nonprofit organizations to support community-focused arts projects in 2025. Applications are due by November 8, 2024, and projects must be completed between January 1 and December 31, 2025.

The Brooklyn Arts Fund (BAF) offers grants of $2,500 to $5,000 to Brooklyn-based individual artists, collectives, and small nonprofits for arts and cultural projects that enrich the creative experiences of Brooklyn audiences. Eligible projects span various disciplines, including dance, film, literary arts, music, theater, visual arts, and multidisciplinary works. Applicants must demonstrate community support, and BAC cannot be the sole funder, requiring that at least 10% of the project budget come from other sources.

The Local Arts Support (LAS) grant, also ranging from $2,500 to $5,000, supports Brooklyn-based nonprofits and artist-nonprofit partnerships. This program focuses on high-quality local arts projects that engage Brooklyn communities. It is designed to empower artists and organizations by supporting performances, exhibitions, festivals, workshops, and other community-driven arts programs. Unlike BAF, LAS has no match requirement, though applicants must still demonstrate the ability to execute their project with experienced personnel and realistic timelines.

Applicants to both programs must submit a project narrative, budget, and work samples to illustrate artistic merit and community engagement. For LAS, additional documentation may be required for nonprofit partnerships or fiscal sponsorships.

All applicants are encouraged to attend information sessions to improve their chances of success. Grantees are required to submit final reports by January 15, 2026, and adhere to BAC’s publicity and reporting guidelines.
