City of Tigard Community Events Grant in Oregon
This program provides funding to nonprofit organizations and government agencies for community events that promote economic activity, artistic expression, and cultural diversity in Tigard, Oregon.
Description
The Community Events Grant Program, administered by the City of Tigard, Oregon, provides annual competitive grant funding to tax-exempt organizations, governmental agencies, and organizations with a fiscal sponsor. The program's primary goal is to enhance community engagement and strengthen Tigard’s identity by funding events that provide economic, artistic, and cultural benefits to Tigard residents and businesses.
The funding priorities are guided by the City’s vision of creating an equitable, walkable, healthy, and accessible community. Events supported by this program should promote economic activity, artistic expression, and cultural diversity. However, the grant does not fund internal school programs, fundraising events, or rent assistance.
To be eligible, applicants must be a tax-exempt nonprofit organization (501(c)(3), 501(c)(4), or 501(c)(6)), a government agency, or an organization with a fiscal sponsor. Applications must include proof of tax-exempt status, a recent financial audit or financial statement, an event-specific budget, and an explanation of how the event benefits Tigard residents. If the event requires a Special Event Permit (e.g., Fun Runs, Festivals, Concerts, or Sports Tournaments), the permit must be approved before grant funds are issued.
The maximum grant award per organization is $50,000, as determined by the budget committee. Funding is awarded using a weighted scoring rubric based on the event’s alignment with program goals, impact on the community, equity considerations, organizational competency, and fiscal responsibility.
Grant recipients must acknowledge the City of Tigard as an event sponsor in all marketing materials and submit a progress report six months after receiving funds. If an organization receives $10,000 or more, they must present an update on fund usage to the City Council.
The 2025 grant application period runs from January 1 to February 15, 2025. An informational session will be held on January 15, 2025, and applicant presentations will occur in March. The budget committee reviews applications in April-May, and final awards are adopted by the City Council in June. Grant funds will be available for distribution starting July 1, 2025.
