Colorado Springs Health Foundation Grant Program 2025
This grant provides funding to nonprofit organizations and government entities to improve health outcomes for underresourced populations in El Paso and Teller Counties, focusing on areas such as food access, physical activity, and affordable housing.
Description
Colorado Springs Health Foundation (CSHF) serves the El Paso and Teller Counties in Colorado, focusing its grantmaking on advancing health outcomes through a population health model. This approach considers a wide range of health determinants, including clinical care, health behaviors, social and economic factors, and the physical environment. The Foundation prioritizes high-need and underresourced populations across its focus areas.
CSHF accepts grant requests from tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organizations, entities operating under fiscal sponsorship, and tax-supported organizations like schools or local and state governments. Applications must propose work that serves the residents of El Paso and/or Teller Counties. Funding requests must also align with the Foundation’s mission and focus areas. While a broad range of grant types is considered—including general operating, program, capital, and capacity-building—CSHF prefers not to be the sole or majority funder of a project. Organizations with an active grant of the same type (general operating, program, or capital) must complete and receive approval of their final report before submitting a new request of the same kind. Additionally, no organization may submit more than one such request per calendar year.
The Foundation has identified six primary funding focus areas: healthcare access (including mental, oral, physical, and substance use-related care and addressing workforce shortages), suicide prevention, trauma prevention or healing, food, physical activity, and transitional or affordable housing. These are split across two annual funding cycles. The Summer/Fall 2025 cycle, opening tentatively on April 28, 2025, focuses on food, physical activity, and transitional or affordable housing. Pre-application phone calls are scheduled from April 28 through July 10, 2025, with final applications due by noon Mountain Time on July 22, 2025. Grant decisions are expected by late September 2025.
Most grants are for a one-year duration. Multiyear funding may be considered under specific circumstances, such as for new community-based approaches; however, multiyear support is not available for general operating, capital, or ongoing program operations. Potential applicants considering multiyear support must discuss eligibility with CSHF staff during the pre-application call.
Grant applications and associated materials may be subject to public disclosure under Colorado's Open Records Act. In addition to its main grant cycles, CSHF also offers rolling opportunities for capacity-building and collaboration funding. Emergency funding may be considered under exceptional circumstances, and in rare cases, the Foundation may support projects that fall outside its focus areas if they demonstrate strong alignment with its mission and values.
