The Black Philanthropy Circle Grant is an initiative of the Black Philanthropy Giving Circle, a donor-advised fund managed by the Baltimore Community Foundation. This fund is structured as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and is dedicated to supporting charitable activities that directly enhance the quality of life for African-American individuals and communities within the Baltimore metropolitan area. The Giving Circle encourages community-led solutions and seeks to invest in organizations that are rooted in and responsive to the needs of Black residents.

Eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations that are either Black-led or based in predominantly Black communities in the Baltimore metropolitan area. Applicants must either have 501(c)(3) status or apply through a fiscal sponsor with such status. The organization’s mission and activities must focus on delivering goods or services that directly benefit Black communities. The fund is inclusive in its approach and welcomes diverse types of programs, though it gives particular attention to several specified focus areas.

Grant proposals may center on a variety of fields, including arts and culture, economic welfare such as job placement and workforce training, education, recreation, youth engagement, community organizing and service (non-political), environmental initiatives, human services, and health and wellness. However, the fund is open to other areas of focus if the applicant demonstrates clear relevance and impact on Black communities.

Each award granted through this program is valued at $25,000. The grant application cycle for 2025 opens on Monday, March 31 at 8:00 AM Eastern Time and closes on Wednesday, April 30 at 11:59 PM Eastern Time. Applicants can submit their proposals during this window through the Baltimore Community Foundation’s online portal.
