Oklahoma Humanities Grants for Cultural Experiences
This funding opportunity supports nonprofit organizations and educational institutions in Oklahoma to create engaging cultural experiences that explore local history and heritage through public programs and events.
Description
Oklahoma Humanities is offering funding opportunities for cultural experiences that focus on exploring local history and cultural heritage. These grants support public program formats such as historic walking tours, cultural trips, festivals, guided tours, and Chautauquas. The primary objective of this grant program is to enhance public access to humanities-based cultural experiences while enriching the cultural landscape of Oklahoma. By providing financial support, Oklahoma Humanities aims to foster engagement with the humanities and promote educational and community-oriented cultural activities.
The funding is available in two categories: Quick Grants, which offer up to $1,500, and Major Grants, which provide funding of up to $10,000. However, both of these grant opportunities are currently temporarily unavailable. When active, these grants provide outright funding for eligible projects, meaning they do not require repayment or matching contributions. The funds can be used to support program costs directly related to the execution of cultural and humanities-based public events.
Eligible applicants include U.S. nonprofit organizations with 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status, accredited public and nonprofit institutions of higher education, state and local governmental agencies, and federally recognized Native American tribal governments. Organizations interested in applying for funding must create an account on the Oklahoma Humanities online grants portal, where they can access specific funding guidelines and application details.
Applications are evaluated based on established criteria outlined in the grant grading rubric. The assessment process considers the proposed project’s alignment with humanities objectives, public engagement potential, and overall cultural significance. A sample budget and budget narrative template are also provided to help applicants prepare detailed and accurate financial plans.
For additional information, applicants can contact Oklahoma Humanities at their office located at 424 Colcord Dr., Suite E, Oklahoma City, OK 73102.
