The Help Our Neighbors Fund, established in 2008 by the Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County (CFAAC), provides urgent financial assistance to nonprofits that help individuals and families in Anne Arundel County. The fund supports critical needs such as rent, utilities, car repairs, medicine, and food, helping residents maintain stability in times of crisis. Grants have been awarded to various local nonprofits, including Fuel Fund of Maryland, The Light House Homeless Prevention Center, and Downtown Hope, which report using the funds to cover essential living expenses for those in need.
Eligibility:
Organizations applying for a grant must:
Be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit or a faith-based organization.
Be located in Anne Arundel County and provide services to residents there.
Have the capacity to determine eligibility for urgent financial assistance and ensure that funds are used for immediate needs.
Maintain a transparent and documented process for tracking financial assistance.
Grant Details:
Grant Range: $250 to $2,500
Funds are used for emergency needs like rent, car repairs, utilities, food, and medicine.
Payments are made directly to vendors (e.g., landlords, utility companies, pharmacies), except in exceptional circumstances.
Organizations may reapply for grants after submitting documentation of previous disbursements.
Application Cycles:
Cycle 1: Applications open February 19, 2024, with a deadline of March 29, 2024. Awards are announced in April 2024.
Cycle 2: Applications open October 2, 2024, with a deadline of November 3, 2024. Awards are announced in December 2024.
