The goals of GAMTTEP grants are to 1) attract K-12 students in underrepresented groups to STEM education and careers in the transportation industry; 2) create a talent pipeline from GAMTTEP to other FHWA Workforce Development Programs and other transportation careers; 3) foster creativity and forward-thinking by incorporating modern technologies, real-world problem-solving, and hands-on experiences in the curriculum; and 4) develop strong partnerships between Government, educational institutions, and the private sector to create a collaborative community that supports and uplifts underrepresented groups in transportation. FHWA seeks to award grants as allowable by law and consistent with the goals of GAMTTEP, that proactively address equity and barriers to opportunity. This objective reflects Executive Order (E.O.) 13985, Advancing Racial Equity and Support for Underserved Communities Through the Federal Government (86 FR 7009).
