York County Tourism Grant Program
This program provides financial support to nonprofit organizations, for-profit entities, and government agencies in York County, Pennsylvania, to develop innovative tourism initiatives that enhance visitor experiences and drive economic growth through increased overnight stays.
Description
The York County Tourism Grant Program, administered by Explore York and the York County Commissioners, is designed to promote tourism development in York County, Pennsylvania. The program is funded through a room tax enacted by the county commissioners and provides financial support for initiatives that can significantly enhance tourism and drive economic impact, particularly through increased overnight stays. The grant program seeks projects that are innovative, demonstrate an understanding of the tourism industry, and offer a compelling case for expanding visitor engagement.
Grants are open to nonprofit organizations, for-profit entities, and government agencies. Eligible projects must align with the program’s goal of strengthening the competitiveness of existing attractions, enhancing visitor experiences, and developing new events or initiatives that attract additional tourists. Successful proposals will present a clear vision of their expected impact on tourism, realistic execution strategies, and supporting data or evidence.
Grant applicants must meet specific requirements, including providing a 25% cash or in-kind match, securing liability insurance, and ensuring that marketing materials include the Explore York logo and branding elements. Applicants must also submit financial documentation demonstrating organizational stability and capacity to complete the proposed project. Funds cannot be used for operational expenses, pre-existing project costs, or signage promoting private businesses.
Proposals will be evaluated based on four key criteria: program impact (50%), program plan (16.6%), organizational capacity (16.6%), and measurable outcomes (16.6%). Strong applications will showcase significant economic benefits, a well-defined project plan, collaboration with partners, and an ability to leverage additional funding sources.
The program follows a structured application and reporting process. Successful applicants must sign a grant agreement, provide financial documentation, and submit post-grant reports detailing expenditures, project results, and receipts totaling the grant amount plus the required match. Reports must be filed within 90 days of project completion to maintain eligibility for future funding.
