Award Details: The foundation awards grants totaling approximately $4 million annually. Grants are made only to qualified non-profit organizations. Preference is given to grant requests from eligible organizations in the Houston area or within the State of Texas.
Eligibility: Grants are only made to qualified non-profit organizations. The foundation does not make grants to individuals. Lobbying of individual directors by grant applicants may result in adverse consideration of the grant application.
Application Process: Applications must be submitted online through the Herzstein Foundation's Online Application portal. Only one application per grantee per year is accepted. There are no specific deadlines, as proposals are accepted year-round.
Evaluation Process: Every request goes through an evaluation process, which includes proposal review, financial analysis, and team discussions. For organizations being considered for Board approval, a site visit may be conducted. The Board meets to approve grants in February, May, August, and October.
Notification of Decision: Applicants should receive an email confirmation of receipt of the proposal. All further status changes will be communicated by email and via status updates on the Online Application "Dashboard."
