2024 Moving Mountains Grant
This funding opportunity supports projects in Philadelphia County that enhance workforce development, education, and economic growth, particularly for organizations helping individuals overcome employment barriers or assisting small businesses.
Description
The Moving Mountains Grants, administered by the Leon H. Sullivan Charitable Trust (LHSCT), provide funding to support projects in Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania, that align with key areas in workforce development, education, and economic development. Grants of $5,000 are available, with application cycles in the spring (deadline May 15, awarded in June) and fall (deadline November 15, awarded in December). Eligible applicants include both nonprofit and for-profit organizations that have been in business for at least two years and have annual revenues not exceeding $100,000.
The grant program supports initiatives focused on enhancing economic mobility through employment pathways, including youth development, adult skill-building, and efforts to overcome barriers to employment, such as disability or reentry from incarceration. Additionally, projects that provide technical support or capital improvements for small businesses, especially minority and indigenous-owned enterprises, are eligible. These efforts aim to promote resilience, community engagement, and business sustainability.
Applicants must submit a project description, including background information on the organization, a detailed plan of activities, a geographic focus, and anticipated outcomes. A budget outlining the total project cost and the amount requested must also be included. Each organization may apply once per calendar year, and incomplete applications will not be considered. Notifications of grant decisions will be made approximately six weeks after the application deadline.
