Description
The Virginia Community Flood Preparedness Fund (CFPF) was established to support regions and localities across Virginia in reducing the impacts of flooding, particularly those driven by climate change. The fund prioritizes projects that align with local, state, and federal floodplain management standards, local resilience plans, and the Virginia Coastal Resilience Master Plan. It aims to empower communities to conduct vulnerability assessments and develop action-oriented approaches to enhance flood preparedness and resilience. Applications will be accepted starting September 10, 2024, and will close on November 9, 2024. Applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered. The evaluation process will score and rank applications based on specific criteria outlined in Appendix D and the availability of funds. The fund is designed to bolster community efforts in flood risk management and resilience planning.
