Community PEG Access Equipment Grant
This grant provides funding for local video creators and organizations in Dubuque to acquire equipment for producing non-commercial content for the community's public, educational, and governmental access channels.
Description
The City of Dubuque is offering the Community PEG Access Equipment Grant to support local video creators in enhancing community storytelling. This grant program is managed by the City's Public Information Office and is designed to help individuals and organizations produce content for Dubuque’s public, educational, and governmental (PEG) access channels. These channels provide a vital platform for community expression, educational programming, and government transparency, ensuring residents remain informed and engaged. Eligible content includes a wide range of video programming, such as narrative fiction, documentaries, and local feature stories.
The primary objective of this grant is to provide funding for equipment that supports the creation of non-commercial video content for Dubuque’s PEG channels. Up to five grants will be awarded, each with a maximum value of $10,000. Awarded equipment must be used exclusively for non-commercial purposes, and recipients are required to produce the committed amount of programming and submit a final grant report within 18 months of receiving the equipment.
The funding for this program comes from the City’s previous cable television franchise agreement with Mediacom, which established an annual grant program to purchase equipment for local content production. The City’s Cable TV Commission will review all applications and determine the final awardees. Grant applications are due by February 23, 2025, with notifications following the commission’s review process.
To apply, applicants must submit a programming proposal outlining their planned content, a list of requested equipment, a detailed plan for how the equipment will be used, and three vendor quotes with proof of quotes. Applications that fail to meet these criteria may not be considered for funding.
The grant application process is competitive, with a limited number of awards available. Submissions will be evaluated based on the quality and feasibility of the programming proposal, alignment with the goals of the PEG channels, and the completeness of the application materials. Interested applicants can find additional information, eligibility criteria, and submission instructions on the City of Dubuque's website or by calling the Public Information Office.
