The Richard & Caroline T. Gwathmey Memorial Trust, established in 1981 by Mrs. Elizabeth Gwathmey Jeffress in memory of her parents, supports nonprofits in Virginia. Grants focus on arts, culture, humanities, education, and human services. Applications are accepted twice yearly, with deadlines on March 1 and September 1. Grants range from $5,000 to $60,000, and funding is provided for program and general operating support, but not for capital or endowment projects. Organizations can reapply after three years from the previous grant award.
