Gifted Education Regional Consultant Grant

State
Colorado Department of Education

This program provides funding and support for educational units in Colorado to enhance gifted education through regional consultants, professional development, and resources tailored to local needs.

Description

The Gifted Education Regional Grant Program provides technical assistance and professional development in gifted education through qualified staff. Funds support part-time regional consultants, professional development, resources, materials, and events based on regional needs. Colorado is divided into ten regions, each with a Gifted Education Regional Consultant (GERC) who aids local gifted education directors. The GERCs facilitate regional meetings, professional development, resource development, and compliance with the Exceptional Children's Educational Act (ECEA). The grant aims to enhance the capacity of educators to support students with exceptional abilities. Eligible applicants are educational administrative units (AUs) within Colorado. The grant is ongoing, with annual appropriations for the program.
