2025 Community Culture & Heritage Grants

Description
The Community Culture & Heritage Grant program, offered by HumanitiesDC, funds projects that document and showcase the culture and narratives of Washington, DC communities for public audiences. The program supports creative initiatives that celebrate and preserve local heritage, culminating in a public event to display the funded projects collectively. Grant awards of up to $10,000 are available, and applications must be submitted by February 18, 2025. Projects can begin as early as May 1, 2025, and must be completed by April 30, 2026.
Eligibility extends to DC-based individuals, community groups, and nonprofit organizations. Applicants are encouraged to propose projects that align with HumanitiesDC’s mission to uplift and share diverse community stories. Projects should have a clear public-facing component to engage audiences with the culture and heritage of DC communities.
To assist applicants, HumanitiesDC will host an overview session and a Community Culture & Heritage Grant Workshop on Monday, January 13, 2025, at 12 PM (virtual). Applicants can also schedule one-on-one office hours with grants staff to discuss project ideas, ensure alignment with grant requirements, and receive guidance on navigating the grant portal. Resources such as past workshop recordings, FAQs, and grant instructions are also available online.
