Description
The Boston Means Business: Activation Grant Program is a funding opportunity initiated by the City of Boston’s Office of Small Business to celebrate Small Business Month in May 2025. The grant supports community-led activations that provide resources and visibility to small businesses and entrepreneurs throughout Boston. The program aims to energize neighborhoods by funding events and initiatives that are open to the public and geared toward helping local businesses grow, thrive, and engage with the broader community.
Applications for the Activation Grant Program are due by Tuesday, April 8, 2025. Selected proposals may receive awards of up to $9,500. The funding is available to fully or partially support initiatives that amplify small business support during the month of May. The grant is competitive and encourages creative approaches that generate economic vitality and community participation.
Eligible applicants include nonprofits, community organizations, and business collectives that have a demonstrated history of supporting and advocating for small businesses in Boston. These entities are expected to design public-facing activations that deliver measurable impact for small business owners and entrepreneurs.
Acceptable projects may include, but are not limited to, business district events, small business workshops, training sessions, discussion panels, forums, networking events, pop-up markets, and other community-oriented activities. Events must be open to the public and clearly demonstrate support for Boston-based small businesses.
