Massachusetts Climatetech Studio Program
This program provides funding and support to entrepreneurs nationwide, particularly from Massachusetts, to help them develop and commercialize innovative climate technology solutions.
Description
The Massachusetts Climatetech Studio, a collaborative initiative between the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (MassCEC) and FedTech, supports entrepreneurs in launching innovative climate technology ventures. The program bridges the gap between intellectual property (IP) from universities and research labs and entrepreneurs ready to commercialize these technologies. It is a 16-week program offering expert coaching, networking opportunities, and access to resources, with the goal of advancing impactful climatetech solutions into profitable and sustainable commercial use.
Participants in the program receive a $15,000 stipend, with additional opportunities to compete for prize money and grant funding. There is no cost to participate, no equity taken, and the program accommodates individuals working full-time. The Climatetech Studio is open to entrepreneurs nationwide, with particular encouragement for Massachusetts residents. Applicants should bring a diversity of skills and experiences, and the program seeks to create balanced teams rather than requiring extensive prior expertise.
The program runs in two phases. Phase 1 will take place from April 9 to May 28, 2025, and Phase 2 will follow from June 4 to July 30, 2025, skipping the week of July 4. Workshops are held weekly on Wednesdays from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. ET. The final showcase, where participants present their projects, is scheduled for the week of August 4, 2025. Applications are due by February 28, 2025, with interviews for shortlisted candidates occurring between March 7 and March 21. Finalist notifications will be issued on March 21.
Applications must be submitted online through Airtable and include sections for general information, experience, team roles and interests, demographic information, and short answer questions. Applicants will receive an email confirmation upon submission. The application process is designed to be straightforward and requires approximately 30 minutes to complete.
The program also highlights additional funding opportunities, such as AmplifyMass and InnovateMass, which provide grants for further development of clean energy technologies. These grants offer potential awards of up to $300,000 and $350,000, respectively, with deadlines aligned to accommodate ongoing innovation in the sector.
For further information or assistance, potential applicants are encouraged to contact the Massachusetts Climatetech Studio team or visit their website for resources and updates. This initiative aims to catalyze meaningful contributions to the global fight against climate change by fostering the next generation of climatetech entrepreneurs.
