This grant provides funding to nonprofit and arts organizations in Howard County to support a variety of arts projects that enhance community engagement and access to the arts.

Description

The Community Arts Development (CAD) Project Grants, administered by the Howard County Arts Council, provide funding to support arts-related projects initiated by Howard County-based nonprofit and arts organizations. The purpose of this program is to expand access to the arts, foster creative expression, and grow audiences through targeted, project-based grants. Eligible applicants can request up to $6,000 annually to implement arts initiatives that enrich the cultural landscape of the county.

The CAD Project Grant program supports a broad range of arts programming and creative efforts. Funded projects may include concerts, theatrical and dance performances, visual art exhibitions, cultural festivals, arts workshops or classes, and publications such as literary or visual art books. Projects may be one-time events or recurring annual programs. All awarded funds must be applied directly to project-related expenses.

This program is intended for organizations whose missions include or support arts programming. Projects must take place within Howard County and contribute to the county’s vibrant arts community. The grant is ideal for organizations seeking to expand their offerings, reach new or underserved audiences, or build community through arts-based events.

Applicants must follow the application process detailed on the Howard County Arts Council’s website, using the GoSmart platform. The Council provides resources such as guidelines and info sessions to assist with applications. One such session is scheduled for April 14 and can be attended by interested applicants seeking clarification or support.

Grant applications are reviewed based on alignment with program objectives, artistic merit, project feasibility, community impact, and audience engagement. Grantees are required to use all funds for the specific project described in the application and must comply with reporting requirements set forth by the Arts Council.
