Details: The Pulitzer Center is seeking applications from U.S.-based journalists to report on the local impacts of erratic weather patterns on coastal populations as part of the Connected Coastlines initiative. They aim to support stories underpinned by recent climate science, data, or research for publication or broadcast by small and regional news outlets in U.S. coastal states. The ideal grant size ranges from $2,000 to $8,000.
Eligibility Criteria: Open to all U.S.-based journalists planning to publish or broadcast their climate stories with a newsroom based in a U.S. coastal state or region. The center strongly encourages proposals from journalists and newsrooms representing diverse social, racial, ethnic, underrepresented groups, and economic backgrounds.
Ineligibility: The grant does not cover expenses related to books, feature-length films, staff salaries, equipment purchases, an outlet’s general expenses, seed money for start-ups, routine breaking news and coverage, advocacy/marketing campaigns, and data projects aimed solely at academic research.
