Description
The Native Hawaiian Library Services Grant program supports Native Hawaiian-serving organizations in sustaining and enhancing library services within their communities. The program funds initiatives that address evolving information needs, ensuring these organizations serve as knowledge and resource centers that contribute to community wellness. Eligible projects include educational programming, oral history documentation, digital media enhancements, institutional planning, staff training, cultural research, digitization, and library space enhancements (excluding construction). The goal is to develop, enhance, or disseminate library and archival practices that benefit Kānaka Maoli, improve community well-being, and ensure access to preserved information.
Organizations must align with one or more objectives: serving community learning needs, improving well-being, preserving collections, and providing emergency or disaster response services. Grants range from $50,000 to $150,000 for projects lasting one to two years, beginning September 1, 2025. There is no cost-sharing requirement.
