Alpena County Youth & Recreation Millage Grant 2026
This grant provides funding to 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations, schools, and government entities in Alpena County to support recreational activities that benefit local residents.
Description
The Alpena County Youth & Recreation Millage Grant Application is for funding opportunities available for relevant 501(c) 3 non-profit organizations, schools, and government entities based in Alpena County. The grant is aimed at supporting recreational activities that benefit the residents of the county, with funding allocated on a calendar year basis. Applications must be submitted no later than 4 PM on May 1, 2025, for programs and projects that begin after January 1, 2026, and must be completed and paid for by December 31, 2026.
To apply, organizations must be recognized as a 501(c) 3 non-profit charitable organization, though schools and government entities are also eligible. First-time applicants need to submit documentation such as bylaws, operating procedures, and the organizational board structure, including a primary contact person and board treasurer. The application must include a fully completed form with a budget and budget narrative. A program or project proposal must also be presented to the Youth & Recreation Committee as part of the application process.
Grant recipients must meet specific requirements for accountability, including abiding by the County of Alpena’s nonprofit accountability standards. If awarded, applicants will be required to submit a copy of their liability insurance and attend a mandatory Youth & Recreation meeting on December 4, 2025. Failure to attend the meeting could result in forfeiture of the grant funds. A funding report, including photos, must also be submitted at the conclusion of the project/program. Additionally, all reimbursement requests must be submitted by January 15, 2027.
The grant is available to projects that provide recreational benefits to Alpena County residents. The application must be typed and submitted in the prescribed format, with the original application and nine additional copies, all three-hole punched. It is essential that applications be submitted on time and adhere to the format requirements, as applications submitted in different formats may not be considered.
New applicants are encouraged to attend a Pre-Deadline Workshop on April 3, 2025, at 7:00 PM, which will be held at the Howard Male Conference Room in the Annex Building. This workshop offers applicants the opportunity to receive valuable input from committee members on their applications before the final submission.
