Cape Ann Community Foundation (CACF)

This grant provides funding to nonprofit organizations and local governments in the Cape Ann region to support projects that promote community vitality, economic development, and education.

Description

The Cape Ann Community Foundation (CACF) is now accepting applications for its 2025 grant cycle. Grants are awarded to projects that support and enhance the vitality, prosperity, and well-being of the Cape Ann region, including the communities of Essex, Gloucester, Manchester-by-the-Sea, and Rockport. Funding is generated from proceeds of the Cape Ann License Plate program and from generous community donations. The 2025 application window opens on March 31, 2025, and all submissions must be completed by April 30, 2025.

CACF awards grants ranging from $1,000 to $5,000. Funded projects must align with one or more of the Foundation’s three core mission areas: regional promotion, economic development, and training and education. Regional promotion projects should aim to enhance the quality of life in the Cape Ann area and increase its appeal as a place to live, work, and visit. Economic development proposals should seek to improve employment opportunities, support new or growing enterprises, and promote economic vitality. Training and education projects may include workforce development or entrepreneurial training to support the success of Cape Ann residents in today’s economy.

Eligible applicants include a wide range of organizations, including religious, educational, scientific, and cultural institutions; agencies focused on poverty relief; and any organization that qualifies as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and is either based in or provides services to Cape Ann communities. Additionally, local governments and their subdivisions within Essex, Gloucester, Manchester-by-the-Sea, and Rockport may apply.

Since 2015, CACF has awarded over $100,000 in grants to Cape Ann-based nonprofit organizations. This funding underscores the Foundation’s commitment to the community and the strength of the local support generated through the Cape Ann License Plate initiative. Co-Chairs Britta Cahoon and Tony Sapienza emphasize the importance of continued community involvement, including through direct donations and participation in the annual license plate auction.

Applicants seeking further guidance or information about the grant process may contact Sam Bevins at (978) 283-1601 or via email at sam@capeannchamber.com. All applications must be submitted by April 30, 2025, and are expected to reflect a clear alignment with the Foundation’s mission to foster a vibrant and resilient Cape Ann.
