United Way of the Brazos Valley

This grant provides funding to nonprofit organizations in the Brazos Valley region of Texas to support initiatives that improve health, education, and financial stability for local residents.

Description

The United Way of the Brazos Valley offers Community Impact Grants to support nonprofit organizations that address key issues in health, education, and financial stability. These grants are awarded through a competitive application process and are intended to create a meaningful impact for residents across the Brazos Valley region. The grant program funds initiatives that align with United Way’s strategic priority areas and aims to provide sustainable solutions to community challenges. The grants are available to eligible organizations serving the seven counties of Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Leon, Madison, Robertson, and Washington.

The funding available for each grant ranges from $10,000 to $40,000 annually, with a two-year grant cycle. Organizations interested in applying must complete mandatory application training before their submission will be considered. The grant application window opens on January 14, 2025, and closes on February 14, 2025, at 5 PM. Applications are reviewed by a panel of community volunteers, and selected organizations will be invited for site visits before final funding decisions are made. The final funding recommendations will be approved by the United Way Board of Directors in May 2025, with recipients notified shortly thereafter.

To qualify for funding, applicants must be tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code or a unit of government. They must provide an IRS tax determination letter, operate within the seven eligible counties, and align with at least one of the three funding priority areas. Additionally, organizations must be governed by a board that meets quarterly, have board-approved bylaws and articles of incorporation, and undergo an independent financial audit or review based on their annual expenses. Compliance with anti-discrimination and anti-terrorism laws is also required.

Community Impact Grants do not fund requests for individuals, scholarships, endowments, fundraising events, short-term programs (under two weeks), political activities, or capital campaigns. The United Way of the Brazos Valley encourages applications from organizations that can demonstrate substantial impact, partnerships with the organization, effective community engagement, strong financial sustainability, and the ability to leverage additional resources.

Organizations seeking funding should ensure they meet all application criteria and submit a complete proposal through the designated online portal before the deadline. For additional information or assistance with the application process, applicants can contact Kat Gammon at kgammon@uwbv.org or call 979-696-4483 ext. 113.
