United Way of Cayuga County Grant
This funding opportunity supports nonprofit organizations in Cayuga County that provide programs focused on youth development, financial stability, health and wellness, and community resilience for local residents.
Description
The United Way of Cayuga County (UWCC) is offering funding opportunities for nonprofit organizations through its 2025-2027 grant cycle. The organization aims to support community-based initiatives that align with its core focus areas: Youth Opportunity, Financial Security, Healthy Communities, and Community Resiliency. Through this funding, UWCC seeks to foster long-term community impact by addressing systemic challenges and providing essential resources to individuals and families in Cayuga County. Applications will be accepted from December 13, 2024, through February 21, 2025, with funding disbursements beginning on July 1, 2025, and continuing through June 30, 2027.
The grant focuses on funding programs that address essential needs within the community. Successful applications will support initiatives that help children and youth from birth to age 21 achieve educational success, secure employment, and gain financial stability. Programs should also assist individuals and families in accessing jobs, managing financial resources, and improving economic conditions. Additionally, funding will be directed toward health and wellness initiatives, including basic needs support, safe housing, and social-emotional well-being. Another priority area is community resiliency, ensuring access to disaster relief, emergency preparedness, crisis support, and environmental sustainability efforts.
Funding decisions will be made by a committee of experienced volunteers who assess applications based on alignment with United Way focus areas, impact on policy and systems, community engagement, and measurable outcomes. Organizations must demonstrate strong leadership, governance, and excellence in program execution. The review process will take place between March 3 and April 4, 2025, culminating in funding determinations at the April 23rd United Way Board of Directors meeting.
Eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations that are either based in Cayuga County or headquartered elsewhere but serve residents within the county. All applicants must be recognized as 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations. UWCC funding is strictly designated for services benefiting Cayuga County residents, and organizations must meet eligibility criteria annually to maintain funding. Ineligible entities include for-profit organizations, political parties, religious activities, capital expenses, individuals, and deficit funding.
Applicants are required to submit a complete application by 11:59 PM on February 21, 2025. Incomplete or draft applications will not be accepted. Required documentation includes the organization's most recent Board Roster or Committee Roster, Mission and Vision Statement, and either the most recent audited financial statements or financial review. Applications must be submitted through the UWCC online application portal, where users must create an account to complete, save, and submit their application.
As a UWCC nonprofit partner, funded organizations receive benefits such as outreach and promotional support, learning opportunities, and access to networking resources that help strengthen their mission and expand community impact. Throughout the funding period, agencies will be required to comply with reporting requirements and continue to uphold high standards of financial and programmatic accountability.
