City of Reno Love Your Block Program

This program provides mini-grants to residents and organizations in Reno's Ward 3 to fund community-driven projects that enhance neighborhoods through beautification, public space improvements, and small home repairs.

The City of Reno's Love Your Block Neighborhood Project Assistance program is designed to empower residents and organizations to improve their neighborhoods through community-driven projects. This initiative provides mini-grants to individuals, groups, and organizations that propose impactful neighborhood enhancement projects. The program supports efforts to improve public spaces, beautify communities, and assist with small home repairs that directly benefit the neighborhood. Applications for funding are currently open, and interested parties must submit a completed application form along with two "before" photos of the project site.

To be eligible, applicants must be at least 18 years old and can be either property owners or renters, provided they obtain permission from the property owner. Projects must be located in Reno's Ward 3 for this funding cycle. The proposed project budget must fall between $500 and $3,000, and all projects must be completed by August 1, 2025. Funds must be used strictly for the purposes outlined in the approved application, and all funds must be expended by July 18, 2025. Award recipients are also required to submit a final report by September 15, 2025, detailing the activities undertaken, how the funds were spent, and the impact of the project.

Applications require detailed information about the project, including location, type, scope, budget, impact on the community, timeline, requested city services, and expected volunteer involvement. Applicants must specify whether they own the property or have obtained the necessary permissions. Additionally, they need to provide a breakdown of their budget request and an explanation of how funds will be utilized.

Support is available to assist applicants in completing their applications. Those needing help can contact Jocelyn Runnels via email at runnelsj@reno.gov or by phone at 775-326-5101. Applications can be submitted online, via email, or as a physical copy dropped off at the City Clerk’s Office, located on the second floor of 1 E. First Street, PO Box 1900, Reno, NV 89505. Paper applications should be directed to Cori Fisher in the Housing and Neighborhood Development (HAND) division.

The application deadline for this grant is March 22, 2025. There are no rolling deadlines, and projects must adhere strictly to the timeline outlined in the grant requirements. Evaluation criteria will likely include the project's feasibility, impact on the neighborhood, level of community engagement, and alignment with program goals. The final selection process may involve a review by city officials or designated evaluators.

Applicants must agree to comply with all program conditions, including transparency in fund usage and adherence to all legal and regulatory requirements. By submitting an application, applicants confirm their commitment to these terms and conditions.
