The Historic Preservation Board of Gallatin County, Montana, has announced the opening of its 2025 grant cycle, which supports projects focused on preserving the county’s cultural and historical assets. The grant program is administered annually and is designed to assist in the protection and restoration of historically significant sites, structures, buildings, objects, and historic districts throughout Gallatin County. The 2025 cycle is currently open and will accept applications through March 31, 2025.
These preservation grants aim to encourage public awareness and involvement in maintaining Gallatin County’s rich cultural heritage. Past recipients of this funding have included organizations and community centers undertaking varied preservation work such as re-roofing historic buildings, restoring exteriors, painting, replacing structural elements like doors, and documenting oral histories. The Historic Preservation Board, comprised of 11 advisory members, oversees the grant process and meets monthly on the third Monday to evaluate preservation issues and guide efforts at the county level.
