The Ohio Department of Health (ODH), Bureau of Health Improvement and Wellness, Violence and Injury Prevention Section, is offering continuation funding for the Youth Suicide Prevention (YS26) grant program. This grant is part of the federally supported Comprehensive Suicide Prevention Grant and aims to support youth suicide prevention efforts in Ohio through community-based initiatives. The grant is designed to enhance the existing efforts of subrecipients by implementing multi-sectoral plans that address youth suicide prevention through evidence-based strategies.

The funding period for this grant runs from September 15, 2025, to September 14, 2026. Only previously funded applicants from Year 2 (YS25) are eligible to apply. Up to six (6) grants will be awarded, with a total available funding amount of $483,000. Each funded agency may receive up to $70,000, with a minimum award threshold of $30,000. Additionally, there are two optional supplemental funding opportunities, including leadership in the statewide Youth Suicide Prevention coalition ($7,500 each for up to two applicants) and support for local Suicide Fatality Review committees ($10,000 per applicant).

Applications must be submitted electronically through the Grants Management Information System (GMIS) by 4:00 p.m. on April 21, 2025. Faxed, mailed, or hand-delivered applications will not be accepted. New staff requiring access to GMIS must complete the mandatory GMIS training provided by ODH. Subrecipients must be prepared to cover operational costs until grant payments are received. By submitting an application, organizations acknowledge compliance with ODH Grant Administration Policies and Procedures (OGAPP) and federal cost principles.

Eligible applicants must meet specific criteria, including a history of compliance with ODH financial policies, submission of required reports, and adherence to federal and state regulations. The program requires quarterly program and expenditure reports to be submitted via GMIS. In addition, applicants must ensure alignment with health equity strategies and efforts to reduce disparities among vulnerable populations.

Funding will be distributed based on deliverables, with specific program activities focused on coalition engagement, policy implementation, and evidence-based interventions in community, healthcare, and upstream prevention settings. Additional requirements include participation in statewide injury prevention coalitions, submission of program progress updates, and compliance with federal and state funding accountability measures.
