The Brownsville Foundation for Health and Education (BFHE) offers grants to support health, education, and charitable activities that enhance the quality of life in the Brownsville, Texas, community. Eligible applicants include government instrumentalities, such as state universities, and organizations with 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status. The Foundation provides funding to facilitate the creation or continuation of impactful programs in health care, education, and community support.
Applications must be submitted by 4:00 p.m. on January 31, 2025. Proposals must be delivered or mailed to the United Way of Southern Cameron County at 634 East Levee Street, Brownsville, TX. Late submissions are not considered. Each application must include six printed copies of the proposal, bound with paper or binder clips, and exclude additional materials such as brochures or photos. The proposal format should address key questions about the organization’s mission, the requested funding amount, the purpose of the grant, timelines, additional funding sources, and a detailed budget.
A signed letter of agreement is required, evidencing the applicant's compliance with the grant guidelines. Grants may be paid in a lump sum or on a reimbursement basis, as specified in the award letter. The Foundation requires annual or periodic financial reports on fund utilization, and unused or misused funds may be reclaimed. If the project is delayed or terminated, the Foundation must be notified promptly, and remaining funds must be returned for permanent project cancellations.
Proposals are reviewed by the Foundation's trustees, with potential input from external experts, depending on the project's scope.
