2024 Direct Services Grants for Nonprofits in Florida
This funding opportunity provides financial support to nonprofit organizations in Florida that assist breast cancer patients and survivors with living expenses, medical items, and essential diagnostic services.
Description
The Florida Breast Cancer Foundation (FBCF) is now accepting applications for its Direct Services Grants, aimed at supporting breast cancer patients and survivors throughout Florida. This initiative provides funding for nonprofit organizations offering direct support in various forms to those affected by breast cancer. The total available funding is $400,000 annually, and the deadline for applications is November 8, 2024, at 5:00 PM EST. All applications must be submitted through ProposalCentral.com. Interested applicants are encouraged to attend an informational workshop on October 24, 2024, via Zoom, to learn more about the grant and the application process.
The purpose of this funding opportunity is to alleviate some of the financial burdens faced by breast cancer patients and survivors, particularly those in active treatment. Grants will be awarded to nonprofit organizations in Florida that provide direct services, including living expenses, medical items, and access to essential diagnostic procedures such as Tomosynthesis (3D) mammograms and MRI screenings. Each grant will be capped at $15,000, with the number of awards depending on the quality of applications and available funds. The primary goal is to extend support to as many eligible Florida residents as possible.
Eligible applicants include Florida-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, Florida governmental entities, Florida-based educational institutions, and federally recognized Indian tribes within the state. Nonprofits based outside of Florida may also apply, provided they maintain a year-round physical presence in Florida. All activities funded through this grant must take place within Florida, ensuring that all funds directly benefit Florida-based breast cancer patients and survivors.
Applicants can apply for one or more of the three main funding areas: living expenses for patients in active treatment, provision of medical items for patients and survivors, and diagnostic/screening services for those in need. Each of these areas has specific focuses, such as financial assistance for rent, utilities, childcare, or groceries, as well as providing wigs, prostheses, and lymphedema sleeves. Organizations are required to submit separate applications for each funding opportunity they wish to pursue.
To apply, organizations must register on ProposalCentral.com. New users will need to create an account, while returning users can log in with their existing credentials. Once logged in, applicants should update their professional profile and then proceed to apply for the Direct Services Grant under the Florida Breast Cancer Foundation’s listing. The application portal opens on October 1, 2024, and technical support is available through ProposalCentral if needed.
With the increasing needs of breast cancer patients, particularly amid economic challenges, the FBCF is committed to providing essential services and support. Organizations interested in applying for funding are encouraged to prepare their applications promptly and thoroughly to meet the November 8 deadline.
