Ann Bancroft Foundation Grant Program
This grant provides financial support to Minnesota girls in grades K-12 to engage in activities that foster confidence, leadership, and personal development.
Description
The Ann Bancroft Foundation (ABF) offers grants to inspire and empower Minnesota girls, helping them to build confidence, embrace leadership, and pursue their dreams. ABF awards grants of up to $1,000 to support activities that allow recipients to explore new opportunities, build self-esteem, and engage in personal development. The foundation is committed to fostering gender equity by supporting girl-identifying youth, including cisgender girls, transgender girls, nonbinary youth, and others whose experiences align with the mission of creating confidence, leadership, and opportunity.
The grant is available to Minnesota residents in grades K-12 who identify as girls. Eligible applicants can use the funding to support participation in activities related to arts, culture, leadership, education, outdoor experiences, athletics, and personal growth. These experiences are intended to help recipients recognize their own strengths, develop resilience, and become part of a team or community. The foundation encourages applications from youth who may not otherwise have access to these opportunities.
To apply, applicants must complete an application that includes personal information, details of the activity they wish to fund, and an itemized budget. The application also requires responses from a mentor who is not a family member, an activity provider, or an employee of the activity provider. The applicant must explain why the activity is important to them, how it aligns with their long-term goals, and what they hope to learn. The mentor provides additional insight into the applicant’s background, financial need, and the importance of the experience.
The Ann Bancroft Foundation accepts applications twice a year, with deadlines on April 1 and October 1. While applications are currently closed, interested individuals are encouraged to sign up for updates via email and social media. The grant covers expenses such as participation fees, equipment, or technology needed for the activity. If the activity is free but requires technology or equipment, applicants may still apply.
Applicants and their mentors must sign a media authorization and consent form allowing ABF to use their stories, photos, and testimonials for promotional and fundraising purposes. Grants are awarded based on eligibility criteria, personal statements, and mentor recommendations. Recipients must complete their funded activities by May 30, 2026. The foundation does not currently accept applications but provides resources and updates through its website and social media channels.
