This funding opportunity supports alumni of U.S. government-sponsored exchange programs in Ethiopia to implement community-driven projects that promote sustainable development and foster collaboration.

Description

The U.S. Mission to Ethiopia invites alumni of U.S. government-sponsored exchange programs to apply for the 2025 Alumni Engagement Innovation Fund (AEIF). This program provides funding for alumni-led projects that build on the skills and experiences gained through their exchange programs to address community challenges. Since its inception in 2011, AEIF has supported nearly 500 projects globally, fostering sustainable development and mutual understanding.

Eligible applicants include teams of at least two alumni from U.S. government-sponsored exchanges. While U.S. citizen alumni may participate in projects, they cannot submit proposals. Alumni from various programs and countries may collaborate, and teams may partner with nonprofits, NGOs, academic institutions, or think tanks to implement activities. Grants can be awarded to individual alumni or partner organizations. Proposals must align with AEIF themes and be implemented outside the United States and its territories.

Projects should promote sustainable development, foster partnerships, and encourage mutual prosperity. Proposals should leverage alumni expertise to address community issues, facilitate collaboration, and identify actionable strategies for social impact. Eligible activities include convening alumni to build relationships, bridging divides across sectors, and developing solutions to community challenges.

The program will fund one award of up to $35,000, with a minimum award amount of $5,000. There is no cost-sharing requirement. Applications must be submitted by January 25, 2025. Proposals should demonstrate clear objectives, measurable outcomes, and alignment with program goals. Ineligible projects include those failing to address the specified themes.

For more details, applicants can contact the U.S. Mission to Ethiopia at pasaddisgrants@state.gov. This opportunity empowers alumni to apply their knowledge and connections to create meaningful change in their communities while strengthening U.S.-Ethiopian relations.
