National Youth Shooting Sports Program Needs Assessment Proposal
This grant provides support for youth shooting sports programs to enhance participation and equipment availability for young shooters across the country.
Description
This grant opportunity is offered by the Youth Shooting Sports Alliance (YSSA) in partnership with the Mule Deer Foundation. To be considered for an equipment grant, applicants must first enter their program in the Youth Shooting Sports Program Directory on the YSSA website. The directory is county-based and serves as a tool to recruit new youth shooters. Basic program and contact information, as well as shooting sports activities offered, should be provided during the submission process.
Applicants are also asked to provide an overview of their youth shooting sports program, including levels of youth participation for 2022-23, shooting range location, shooting disciplines offered, and projected increase in participation for 2024. They can also request specific types and quantities of equipment or supply items needed for their program. However, ammunition will not be distributed by YSSA.
In addition to firearms dealers with a Federal Firearms License (FFL), archery and BB gun products will be shipped directly to the program address. Loaned equipment must be properly cleaned, stored, and secured while in possession of the youth shooting sports program. Any lost or stolen equipment will be billed at distributor price.
Applicants should describe opportunities to share donated equipment with other affiliated youth shooting sports programs and explain how they plan to recognize YSSA's support if selected as a priority program. The application requires a signed certification that all information provided is true and correct, and that the equipment/supplies will be used responsibly and solely for supporting safe youth shooting sports programs.
