Description
The United Way of Eddy County (UWEC) Community Impact and Emerging Community Impact Grants provide funding for nonprofit organizations serving critical community needs in health, education, and income support. The grant process has been designed to be inclusive, competitive, flexible, and results-focused to ensure measurable impact in supporting the most vulnerable populations in Eddy County, New Mexico.
Organizations eligible for funding must be 501(c)(3) nonprofit health and human service organizations located in Eddy County. They must submit online applications by January 15th or the date specified. Late submissions are not accepted, and applicants must sign an Anti-Terrorism Agreement. Funded organizations are required to sign an Annual Memorandum of Agreement and provide mid-year and year-end reports, including financial updates and progress toward stated goals.
Grants are available for up to $25,000 per year per organization, with restrictions on the portion of the program budget that can be covered. Requests of $5,000 or more may receive up to 50% of the program’s budget, while smaller requests can receive up to 100%. Funds must be used for specific program-related expenses, such as staff, materials, and professional fees, and any unspent funds exceeding 10% of the grant amount must be returned.
Allocation decisions are made by the UWEC Allocations Committee, with approval by the Board of Directors. Proposals are evaluated for their alignment with the priority focus areas of health, education, and income support. Collaborative and non-duplicative efforts are encouraged, and reductions in funding are implemented in ways that minimize community disruption.
Organizations that fail to meet the agreement terms may face penalties, including loss of funding or ineligibility for future grants. The UWEC emphasizes diversity, inclusion, and accountability in its operations and partnerships to ensure equitable access and community impact. Detailed instructions and support are provided during the application and reporting processes to assist participating agencies.
