This program provides funding to municipalities in New York State for projects that improve recycling and waste management infrastructure, such as building facilities and purchasing equipment.
Description
The Municipal Waste Reduction and Recycling (MWRR) Program for 2024 is now open, offering grants to support capital projects that enhance municipal recycling infrastructure and advance New York State’s waste management hierarchy. Eligible projects include constructing recycling, composting, and household hazardous waste (HHW) facilities, purchasing recyclables processing equipment, recycling containers, collection vehicles, and support for beverage container assistance projects.
The grant application period runs from November 1, 2024, to October 31, 2027. Applications must be submitted through the Statewide Financial System (SFS) Vendor Portal, and applicants are advised that this is a multi-year program operating on a first-come, first-served basis with awards dependent on funding availability.
