Lowe’s

This program provides funding for community improvement projects across the U.S. that enhance public spaces and resources, with nominations open to individuals partnering with local nonprofits or government entities.

Description

The 2025 Lowe’s Hometowns Grant Program provides funding for up to 100 community improvement projects across the United States. The program allows individuals to nominate community projects that will be completed in partnership with local nonprofits and/or government entities. The initiative aims to enhance public spaces and community resources by funding physical improvement projects that align with Lowe’s corporate mission of strengthening hometowns.

The grant program will accept nominations from January 21, 2025, to February 18, 2025. Eligible applicants include legal residents of the United States who are at least 21 years old at the time of nomination. However, individuals who are directly involved in the grant selection process, employees of certain for-profit companies, and immediate family members of selection committee members or program implementers are ineligible to nominate a project. Each nomination must include details about the project, its community impact, the nonprofit or government entity that will implement it, and estimated costs.

Funded projects must focus on making physical improvements or enhancements that benefit an entire community, rather than a small group or individual. Eligible projects fall under categories such as community centers and services, safe affordable housing, first responder facilities, community revitalization, and skilled trades education initiatives. The selected projects must be able to be completed by November 14, 2025, and must be within a reasonable distance of a Lowe’s store.

The selection process consists of two rounds. In the first round, a panel of judges will review nominations based on the degree of community impact, demonstrated need, feasibility, and inspiration. From these, 200 finalists will be selected. In the second round, Lowe’s will conduct additional due diligence, ensuring a balance of urban and rural projects, geographic distribution, and economic impact. Up to 100 projects will ultimately receive funding.

Grant recipients must be nonprofit organizations or government entities willing to oversee and complete the project. Grants may be awarded in the form of cash or Lowe’s gift cards, and the amount of each grant is determined at Lowe’s discretion. Recipients must sign a grant agreement and may be required to provide project status updates, social media posts, and allow Lowe’s to document project progress. Additionally, recipients must maintain general liability insurance and other specified coverage.

The program is governed by Lowe’s corporate policies and is subject to federal, state, and local laws. Selected projects must comply with all terms and conditions, and any submission that fails to meet the requirements may be disqualified. Decisions of the selection committee are final, and grant recipients are expected to use funds solely for the approved community improvement project.
