The National Science Foundation (NSF) through the Division of Mathematical Sciences (DMS) is offering funding through the Mathematical Sciences Infrastructure Program to strengthen the research infrastructure across the mathematical sciences community. These projects may span multiple mathematical sub-disciplines or involve interdisciplinary collaboration. Training projects must demonstrate an impact at the national or regional scale and must not overlap with other NSF Workforce Program initiatives. Training proposals should include a research component and align with at least one of the following: serving as replicable models, forming partnerships with minority-serving institutions or non-academic entities, or featuring significant broadening participation efforts.

Proposals for conferences, symposia, and research sessions must focus on topics spanning multiple areas of mathematical sciences, rather than within a single subdiscipline. Conference and travel support proposals have specific submission deadlines based on funding requests and location, with required lead times ranging from six to twelve months before the event. Proposals requesting over $50,000 in domestic support require submission at least nine months in advance, while international participation proposals must be submitted twelve months before the event.

Applicants must clearly define the project's goals, expected measurable outcomes, recruitment and selection plans, sustainability strategies, and an evaluation methodology. Full proposals must be submitted according to the target dates specified by NSF. The next submission deadlines are August 5, 2025, and February 3, 2026, with subsequent deadlines occurring on the first Tuesday of August and February annually.

The program is open to institutions and organizations within the U.S. that are engaged in research and training in the mathematical sciences. Specific eligibility criteria depend on the type of proposal submitted. The NSF encourages broad participation, particularly from underrepresented groups, and promotes partnerships with community colleges and minority-serving institutions.
