Wastewater Infrastructure Fund Grants
This program provides financial assistance to Michigan's food and agriculture businesses to help them meet wastewater regulations and improve their infrastructure.
Description
The Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD) is offering the Wastewater Infrastructure Fund Grant, a reimbursement program aimed at supporting the food and agriculture industries in Michigan. The grant's primary goal is to assist these industries in complying with the wastewater regulations enforced by the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) under the Groundwater Discharge Permit Program. The grant targets companies involved in fruit, vegetable, dairy, meat, egg, and grain processing. It covers a range of eligible expenses including pre-work, engineering design, construction, and equipment, with the aim of ensuring companies meet environmental compliance standards.
Applications opened on August 8, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. EST and will be accepted continually until the allocated $30 million in funding is exhausted. The grant operates on a tiered funding system, providing awards based on the daily wastewater flow of the applicant's operation. The maximum grant award is $2 million, covering up to 50% of eligible investment costs.
