Description

The Maryland Alcohol Manufacturing Promotion Fund is a grant program designed to support the state's breweries, distilleries, and wineries through various initiatives, with the ultimate goal of promoting Maryland as a top destination for craft beverage production and tourism. The program is managed by the Department of Commerce Office of Tourism and seeks to foster industry growth, attract new visitors, and promote the use of local agricultural products.

Key Objectives:
The Fund will award grants to eligible applicants to:

Expand the craft beverage industry in Maryland, supporting breweries, distilleries, and wineries.
Attract visitors to these craft beverage producers through events and promotions.
Support special events that highlight and promote Maryland’s breweries, distilleries, and wineries.
Educate the public on the history and importance of alcohol manufacturing in the state.
Encourage minority ownership and participation within the craft beverage industry.
Research and promote the use of Maryland’s agricultural products in beer, wine, and spirits production.
Eligibility:
To apply for a grant, an applicant must be:

A nonprofit organization under section 501(c)(3) or 501(c)(6) of the Internal Revenue Code, or
A state or local government unit.
Application Process:
Deadline: The application deadline is November 8, 2024.
Completed applications should be submitted via email to map.fund@maryland.gov.
Evaluation Criteria:
Applications are evaluated under two main categories: Marketing and Promotion and Research and Development. The maximum possible score is 100 points.

1. Marketing and Promotion (60 points):
Creation and expansion of craft beverage businesses (20 points).
Attracting new visitors to breweries, wineries, and distilleries (20 points).
Incentives for special events to promote these businesses (10 points).
Public education about alcohol manufacturing and its history in Maryland (10 points).
2. Research and Development (40 points):
Support for minority ownership and participation in craft beverage businesses (20 points).
Research on and promotion of local agricultural products used in beer, wine, and spirits (20 points).
