Offshore Wind Applied Research Administration Grant Challenge
This grant provides $6.35 million to a nonprofit organization to manage a program that funds applied research projects from New Jersey universities and colleges aimed at advancing technology and commercialization in the offshore wind industry.
Description
The New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) will soon accept applications for its Offshore Wind Applied Research Administration Grant Challenge, a pilot program that offers $6.35 million to a selected grant Administrator. This Administrator will be tasked with developing and managing a Sub-Grant Program dedicated to offshore wind applied research within New Jersey. This Sub-Grant Program will issue at least two calls for proposals, inviting New Jersey-based universities and colleges to submit applied research projects that contribute to technological innovation and potential commercialization within the offshore wind industry.
The Grant Challenge is competitive, requiring applicants to propose a comprehensive plan to administer the Sub-Grant Program effectively. The NJEDA seeks a nonprofit entity with direct experience in managing at least one previous offshore wind research and development solicitation to apply. Notably, universities and colleges in New Jersey are not eligible to apply as Administrators, as their role will be to participate in the Sub-Grant Program as potential grantees.
The application period opens on November 4, 2024, and closes on December 19, 2024. To assist applicants, NJEDA will post a Q&A session on November 26, 2024, which will provide further insights and guidance on the application process.
The NJEDA’s Offshore Wind Applied Research Administration Grant Challenge aligns with its broader mission to promote inclusive, sustainable economic development and foster innovation within New Jersey’s offshore wind sector.
