The Faith & Action Project at Christian Theological Seminary (CTS) offers annual grants to nonprofit organizations and faith communities located in Central Indiana, specifically those working to close opportunity gaps and improve upward mobility for families and youth living in poverty. The initiative seeks to support projects that have already demonstrated a tangible impact and have the potential to expand their reach and effectiveness. The goal of the project is to help create sustainable, long-term solutions for individuals and families facing economic hardship.

The Faith & Action Grant is designed to support organizations that offer services or programs in areas such as education, health, affordable housing, employment pathways, and networks of support. The program particularly prioritizes efforts that focus on safe and affordable housing, reflecting CTS’s belief in housing as a human right and a foundational element in breaking the cycle of poverty. Organizations applying for this grant must operate within Marion County, Indiana, and demonstrate how their initiatives provide pathways out of poverty for the county's residents.

For the 2025 grant cycle, the application process is structured in multiple phases. The first-round applications are due by April 15, 2025. Only applicants who are invited to proceed will be required to submit a full application by May 27, 2025. Attendance at the Faith & Action Project Spring Conference on March 11, 2025, is mandatory for at least one representative from each applying organization. Registration for the conference is free and available on the CTS website.

Grants of up to $30,000 will be awarded, and selected recipients will be notified by July 1, 2025. Since its inception in 2017, the Faith & Action Project has awarded nearly $1,000,000 in funding across 42 grants to organizations and faith communities dedicated to poverty alleviation in the region. The Faith & Action Project is made possible through the support of several philanthropic organizations including the Mike and Sue Smith Family Fund, The Indianapolis Foundation, The Nicholas H. Noyes, Jr., Memorial Foundation, Lumina Foundation, and the Petticrew Foundation. The project is led by Lindsey Nell Rabinowitch, who serves as the Director of the Faith & Action Project.
