This grant provides financial support to organizations in select states that focus on combating hunger and improving nutrition for children and families in need.
Description
The Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation focuses on alleviating hunger by providing grants to support hunger-relief efforts. The grants are specifically intended to fund the purchase of food, ensuring that resources directly address food insecurity in communities. The foundation operates on a bi-annual cycle, offering application windows in both spring/summer and fall/winter. Eligible organizations must be located within a 20-mile radius of a Food Lion store in one of the ten states where Food Lion operates. These grants are only available once per year per organization, ensuring equitable distribution among applicants.
The foundation prioritizes organizations that are affiliated with Feeding America, United Way, or Meals on Wheels America. Eligible applicants must demonstrate affiliation with one of these organizations in good standing for 2025. Additionally, they must provide documentation to verify their nonprofit status, current governance structure, and compliance with IRS requirements. Applications must be submitted online and include several supporting documents, such as a W-9 form, IRS determination letter, and board of directors list, or proof of governmental affiliation if applicable.
