The Kemper Foundation

This funding opportunity provides financial support to Title I elementary schools in California, Florida, and Texas to strengthen their Spanish-English dual-language programs and enhance bilingual education for students.

Description

The Read Conmigo School Impact Grant, offered by The Kemper Foundation, is designed to support dual-language education for bilingual students. Each year, the foundation awards up to 22 grants of $10,000 each to eligible Title I elementary schools in select counties within California, Florida, and Texas. The program aims to enhance bilingual education by providing funding for school-wide dual-language initiatives. Schools that receive this grant can utilize the funds for resource and technology improvements, instructional support, professional development, and community and cultural engagement activities.

The primary purpose of the Read Conmigo School Impact Grant is to strengthen existing Spanish-English dual-language programs. The initiative supports schools in improving instructional quality, expanding access to bilingual resources, and fostering community engagement that promotes bilingual education. Schools must demonstrate an ongoing commitment to dual-language education and provide evidence of at least one year of program implementation.

The grant provides up to $10,000 per school to support a variety of needs, including acquiring new educational resources, updating classroom technology, training teachers in bilingual instructional strategies, and organizing cultural events that benefit students and families. The funding must be used to enhance dual-language instruction and cannot be allocated for other school expenses outside this scope.

Eligibility is limited to Title I public or charter elementary schools that serve bilingual students within the specified geographic locations. Schools must already have an established dual-language program with a minimum of one year of implementation. Additionally, applications must be submitted by the school principal on behalf of the school.

Applications must be submitted through The Kemper Foundation’s online portal. Submissions via mail or email will not be accepted. The application deadline for the 2025 funding cycle is March 9, 2025. Schools interested in applying should review the grant usage guidelines and eligibility requirements available on the foundation’s website.

Evaluation criteria include the school’s commitment to dual-language education, the effectiveness of the proposed funding use, and the potential impact on bilingual students. Applications will be reviewed to ensure alignment with the program’s objectives. Schools are encouraged to provide detailed plans for how the funds will enhance their dual-language initiatives.
