2025 Gary Alexander Arts in Education Grant
This grant provides financial support to public and private schools in Rowlett, Texas, to develop and enhance artistic and educational programs for students.
Description
The Gary Alexander Arts in Education Grant provides mini-grants to public and private schools in Rowlett, Texas, to enhance or create new artistic and educational experiences. Administered by the Rowlett Arts and Humanities Commission, the program evaluates applications based on artistic merit, community value, project feasibility, and educational benefit. Grant recipients are honored at a City Council meeting.
Eligible projects include theater, dance, vocal and instrumental performances; art exhibits and demonstrations; student workshops in visual and performing arts or humanities; and author lectures. Ineligible projects include capital improvements, operating expenses, scholarships, fundraisers, retroactive funding requests, social functions, or projects for privately owned, for-profit corporations. Projects with obscene material, as defined by Penal Code section 43, are also excluded.
Applications are due by January 17, 2025, and can be mailed, emailed, or delivered to Laura Tschoerner, the Arts & Humanities Staff Liaison and Library Director, at the Rowlett Public Library, 3900 Main Street, Suite 200, Rowlett, TX 75088.
