Kids to Parks Day School Grants Program
This program provides funding for Title I school classrooms to create engaging outdoor educational experiences in parks, promoting environmental stewardship and healthy lifestyles for students.
Description
The Kids to Parks Day School Grants Program, hosted by the National Park Trust, supports Title I school classrooms (PreK through 12) in creating enriching park-based educational experiences. In celebration of the 15th annual Kids to Parks Day on May 17, 2025, the program offers grants of up to $1,000 for in-park activities. Funding can be used for transportation, program fees, stewardship supplies, and other necessary materials to ensure a comprehensive learning experience.
The program requires student-driven applications that include collaboration between students and teachers. Each application must feature a park-themed educational component focusing on outdoor recreation and healthy lifestyles, environmental education/science, or history, as well as a stewardship activity. Teachers may submit one application per class, with multiple applications allowed per school as long as each benefits a unique set of students.
Applications are open to Title I schools across U.S. states and territories and must be submitted by February 7, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. HST. While activities in May 2025 are preferred, exceptions for other spring dates will be considered. Grant funding must be fully utilized by June 20, 2025.
Grantees are required to submit post-program documentation, including a teacher summary, a student-written summary (or dictated quotes for students under 3rd grade), five digital photos showcasing the experience, and a teacher survey. Photos should highlight students engaging with the program, using grant-funded items, and featuring the program mascot, Buddy Bison.
This grant encourages hands-on learning through exploration of parks and public lands while fostering a deeper understanding of environmental stewardship, history, and health.
