Description
The Rail Industrial Access (RIA) program is designed to promote truck diversion by providing grant assistance for connecting new or expanding businesses to the freight railroad network. Grants of up to $450,000 may be requested by eligible applicants, including new or expanding business, commercial, or industrial enterprises, municipal and county governments acting on behalf of such enterprises, local economic development departments, and railroads. Funding necessitates a 30% match by the applicant. The program covers costs such as engineering, site preparation, track construction, rehabilitation, improvement, environmental mitigation, and mainline railroad switches.
