This funding opportunity supports nonprofit organizations in Monroe County, Pennsylvania, that provide innovative programs addressing critical community needs such as mental health, basic needs, childcare, domestic violence, and housing, particularly for the ALICE population and socially disadvantaged groups.

Description

The Pocono Mountains United Way (PMUW) is inviting 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations to apply for funding through its 2025-2026 Resource Investment Process. This funding opportunity focuses on supporting targeted programs that address critical community needs in Monroe County, Pennsylvania. Applications open on January 1, 2025, and must be submitted via the online portal by 11:00 PM on January 31, 2025.

Programs should align with PMUW’s Priority Needs, which include mental health, basic needs (such as food and transportation), childcare, domestic violence, and housing. Emphasis is placed on innovative approaches and serving the ALICE population (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed), with additional consideration for proposals addressing impacts on socially disadvantaged households, women, and communities of color. Proposals that expand access to services and address systemic barriers such as the benefits cliff will receive favorable consideration.

Eligible applicants must meet specific criteria, including being a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit with a valid IRS EIN, a current Certificate of Registration from the Pennsylvania Department of State, and a history of at least 24 months of operations. Financial documentation, including an IRS 990 form and audited financials (if required), must be provided. Organizations not currently receiving funding from PMUW must complete a pre-screening eligibility process, which provides decisions within five business days.

The application process includes submitting agency-specific and program-specific forms through the e-CImpact portal. These forms require detailed information on the proposed program’s goals, outcomes, and budget. Applications will be evaluated based on demonstrated need, the effectiveness of the proposed approach, capacity for implementation, and expected results.

Funding decisions will be announced in June 2025 after a thorough review process involving program panels and interviews in March and April. For more information, applicants can contact Maria Schramm, Associate Director of Community Impact, at Maria@PoconoUnitedWay.org or 570-517-5362. Further details, including access to the portal, are available in the official Request for Applications (RFA) document.
